Earl Grey is a variety of tea, flavoured with oil extracted from the peel of the bergamot fruit and named after Charles Grey, Earl Grey, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1830 to 1834, who received a gift of tea with bergamot oil and was so impressed by it that he offered it to his guests and acquaintances, thus starting the spread of Earl Grey in England.
