Description

The lime cordial we know and love today began as a staple to keep Royal Navy sailors scurvy free back in the 1800s. Lachlan Rose discovered a method to preserve lime juice, valued for its high Vitamin C content, essential for scurvy prevention, and Rose’s lime juice or cordial was born. From its noble beginnings as a staple of the British Navy, Rose’s has evolved into a popular squash and cocktail ingredient that we know today.  Rose’s can be added to sparkling water or mixed with ginger beer for a refreshing non alcoholic drink. However it is most popular as a cocktail ingredient, lending its signature tart and sweet taste to such happy hour favourites as Margarita, Daquiri and, of course, the Gimlet.

Gimlet recipe:

1 ½ ounces of dry gin
¾ ounces of Rose’s Lime Juice

Place one scoop of ice in a cocktail shaker
Pour in gin and lime juice and shake to mix and cool
Strain into a coupe or cocktail glass and garnish with lime wedge
